Coconut macaroons are a sweet mouthful that everybody loves. The taste of coconut often makes us think of palm trees and bounty beaches, but it is actually unknown where the coconut plant originally came from. However, it is believed that it originated in Polynesia and that seeds travelled to South America. Since then, coconut has become an indispensable ingredient for baking with exotic flavours.
Coconut macaroons is defined with a soft and spongy coconut centre and a slightly firmer surface. We have several different variations of our coconut macaroons – in addition to the classic plain one; we have one where cocoa is added to the dough. Both variants are also available with the bottom sub-coated with chocolate, which works perfect together with the sweet taste of coconut.
